For the August meeting we will have a presentation by Dave Propper, K2DP, ARRL Programs and Services Committee Board Liaison, ARRL RF Safety Committee Chair, ARRL Historical Committee, ARRL Midwest Division Vice Director.
Dave began his ham radio career in 1964 as WN2PMP located in Oceanside, Long Island, New York. His interest in amateur radio was fostered and nurtured by his father, Jerry WA2GEX (now SK). Under his Dad’s guidance, he quickly advanced in the hobby and became WB2PMP in 1965 and held that call until November, 1996. After graduating college, he began his career in commercial and military electronics, which eventually brought him to a McDonnell Douglas facility in Central Florida in 1986 and then on to St. Louis in January 1995 where he laid down roots for the past 25 years !
His amateur radio interests are broad in scope, including DX’ing, contesting, 50 Mhz operation and the restoration and operation of classic “boat anchor” tube type ham gear of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s,as well as providing public service and nurturing the development of new amateur radio licensees through various STEM engagements. He currently serves our ARRL members as Vice Director, ARRL Midwest Division, working closely with our Midwest Division Director to represent our membership to ARRL at the national level. He also holds leadership positions with the Boeing Employees Amateur Radio Society – St. Louis and the Mississippi Valley DX/Contest Club and is a member of the QCWA.
