The program for the March 26th meeting will be “The End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW) Has Become A Very Popular Antenna Lately – But Why?” presented by Ward Silver(NØAX).
Ward is the Lead Editor of the ARRL Handbook and the ARRL Antenna Book. He is the author of all three ARRL License Manuals and study guides along with Grounding and Bonding for the Radio Amateur and the three volumes of ARRL’s Hands-On Radio Experiments. He serves as a Contributing Editor to the ARRL and consults on a variety of projects and programs in the ARRL Contest Department. You will also find his byline on the popular Ham Radio for Dummies, now in its 3rd edition. An electrical engineer, he designed microprocessor-based products and medical devices for twenty years before beginning a second career as a teacher and writer. He is a founder of the World Radiosport Team Championships and is President of the YASME Foundation.
The End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW) has become a very popular antenna lately – but why? Does it work? How does it work? What makes it special – or is it? The presentation will discuss the relationship between an EFHW and its better-known relative the half-wave dipole along with variations such as the Off-Center Fed (OCF) dipole. The all-important feed point impedance transformer will be explained along with several installation methods and variations. Put some fire in your wire!
The meeting will be held ON-LINE Friday, March 26th at 7:00 pm, streaming starts at 6:45. Join us by clicking on this link https://www.youtube.com/c/slsrc(w0src)/live
