SLSRC’s Meeting, Friday, Feb. 22nd, Presenter-Thomas Laybourn (KEØSGU) – A Teacher’s Perspective on Amateur Radio as a Teaching Tool and the Path to Get There.

The February presentation will be presented by KEØSGU, Thomas Laybourn (US Army MAJ, Ret).  He will inform the club and all who are attending about the process and progress of instituting a radio-themed education project in the public school of Woodridge Middle School.  Thomas will present the mission’s initial stages from clumsy soldering and bad ideas to meaningful projects and durable kits. He will also address many of the unexpected valuable offshoots of interacting with SLSRC and other radio organizations which have stimulated incredible growth in the STEM areas at Woodridge. His goal is to use radio as a tool to facilitate increased STEM performance of students.

Thomas is an 8th Grade Physical Science Teacher at Woodridge Middle School. He retired from the United States Military after 20 years as an Army Infantry officer. He is a graduate of The U.S. Military Academy At West Point. He is a married father of 4 children. Finally, KEØSGU is a relatively new amateur radio operator, who is making a difference.

Our next club meeting and program are on Feb 22nd at 7:00 PM. We meet at the Goldfarb School of Nursing rooms 419 & 420 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Follow this link for details. https://www.slsrc.org/meeting-info/
