March 24, 2017 Meeting – Speaker, Don Wilbanks, AE5DW via SKYPE

SLSRC is honored to have Don Wilbanks AE5DW as our guest presenter at the March meeting.

Don will be joining us via SKYPE from his home studio in Picayune, MS. The meeting is at March 24 at 7 PM in the Clinical Learning Institute, Goldfarb School of Nursing, rooms 419-420 of Missouri Baptist Hospital.

Don is a reporter and anchor for Amateur Radio Newslineand an ARRL Volunteer Examiner. He can be seen on Ham Nation, an Internet TV show about amateur radio broadcast weekly on the TWiT network. Don started his broadcasting career at his hometown station, 1450 KGFF in Shawnee, OK. From there it was off to Oklahoma City and 50,000 watt 1520 KOMA, then as the afternoon jock on 640 WWLS in Norman, OK. He found his way to New Orleans for various radio jobs at WQUE AM & FM, WRNO FM (simulcast with WRNO Worldwide shortwave), WNOE AM & FM, WEZB B-97 FM, WLTS FM and then to mornings as a member of the KOOL Wake Up Club at oldies WTKL, Kool 95.7 FM. He was also a traffic reporter for several radio and television stations with MetroScan Traffic Network in New Orleans and Production Director for the four Clear Channel owned radio stations in Biloxi, Mississippi. While Production Director at WLTS/WTKL he produced two Addy Award winning radio commercials. Currently he is Creative/Production Director at the eight station iHeartMedia (formerly Clear Channel) New Orleans radio cluster and does a little voice over and radio production from his home studio.
