CQ CQ CQ, calling CQ for the St. Louis & Suburban Radio Club Field Day!!!

The St. Louis & Suburban Radio Club (SLSRC) will be participating in the American Radio Relay League’s Field Day 2018. This year will be the 85th year for this ARRL event!   Come join 40,000 other people on the air to show what amateur radio is all about.

We will run our Field Day from 13:00 on Saturday, June 23rd until 13:00 Sunday, June 24th.  Our site will be at the McDonnell pavilion at the James S McDonnell Park located at 2961 Adie Road  (click on the link and you will notice the park’s location is very near our normal radio club breakfast site at Denny’s).

Setup starts with breakfast Saturday at 07:00 at the Denny’s close to the park.  The address is 11266 Midland Blvd.  Then, the group will be heading over to the park to deploy the gear on the site.  Everyone is invited for setup.

The park setup should start between 08:00 and 08:30. We will have the radios and logging software up and running by our 13:00 start time.

Our educational event will be at 15:00 on Saturday. Details will follow.

The SLSRC will run Field Day through the night with anyone who is willing to stay on the air. The following morning, we will provide breakfast for those hearty souls that kept running the airwaves overnight. Let me know if you plan on doing the overnight…I would like a headcount for the Sunday morning breakfast. (kc9cik@slsrc.org)

Our club has traditionally made this a social event with a bit of contest thrown in. This year will be the same. We will have our BBQ hot dogs, brats, and hamburgers at 17:00. Please bring side dishes and desserts to make this a fun time to socialize and get to know one another. During this time, we will have our informal monthly club meeting.

Finally, we will need more help to pack up our Field Day site at 13:00 on Sunday the 24th.  Both set-up and tear-down are great times to get your hands on antennas and radios to better understand how to deploy for emergency events.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible out there!
